My Reviews
Our club enjoyed reading this. It allowed us to reflect on life. The author is amazingly optimistic despite his personal death sentence. Simply written, we found it evoked great discussion with our members.
Lots of new learning...and lots of hints about how the world needs to behave to make peace.
Engaging. Enjoyed the many ways this book could be viewed ~ letters, characters, authoring, romance.
Our club liked this book. We felt that there was some connection to the classic book The Secret Garden, also the Thirteenth Tale. Very well written. Great character development. It kept you wanting to read, read, read.
This photo-text is an easy read but somewhat confusing. As our club discussed this book, we had interesting conversation about the author's point of view at times. The photos enhance the writing for sure. Nebraska author so we appreciated joining those who are reading One Book One Nebraska. The best book I've ever read? Not quite but worth the time.
Helen's daughter has done an outstanding job in writing her mom's biography. Our club enjoyed this although some felt it was extremely detail oriented. The life of a politician can be very interesting. Helen was an excellent Mayor and did outstanding things for the city of LIncoln. I would have loved her to have become the governor but that didn't happen. A sad day for our state when she lost.
Our club really enjoyed this read. The author is a gifted writer and weaves the historical facts so well into the story. A GREAT read! I learned so much about the notables of the time and the craft of making wax models by a gifted artist.
