Very well written...couldn't put it down

I enjoyed this book tremendously. The descriptive words were captivating. To think that a male author can portray the emotions and style of the geisha in such a way that I forgot it was a male author was amazing. It was immensely believeable. The story has so many twists and turns and such suspense that I couldn't put it down.

I recommend this book to everyone!

Confessions is Confusing...

If you were to read one Gregory Maguire book...read Wicked. I was greatly dissapointed after reading this book. Unlike Wicked, this book did not keep my attention. I found it hard to continue reading. Mr. Maguire's style of writing did not allow me to easily follow the characters and their journey. I was never able to "get into the story." THere was too much going on in each sentence.

A positive note: The characters themselves were interesting and third-dimensional. The different take on the Disney version of Cinderella is fun to see. I like the twist on each of the characters' personalities.

I recommend the book, so the reader can experience a different Cinderella world. But I would receommend Wicked over this fairy tale.

A Break in the Storm by Arnold Simon

Confusing...

I received this book and thought it would be very interesting. Instead, I found it extremely confusing. The author jumps scenes and charcters like the little frog jumps cars in the game LeapFrog. It was hard to follow. But...I also found it to be intriguing. To read a book about WWII from the side of a young German wanting to find his place in the crazy world he was living in, was fascinating.

I recommend this book because of the story that is being told...if you can follow it.

Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson

Moving story about love and hate

I really enjoyed this book. I always knew about how the people of Japanese ancestry were treated in the U.S. during WWII, but to read this book, really gave me a more "personal" sense of the animosity that was created after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The star-crossed lovers (reminicent of Romeo and Juliet) were a compelling story. David Guterson did a superior job at pulling the reader into the story and making me want to know the truth during the trial. I was hoping for a happy ending...and Mr. Guterson gave us a realistic ending. I highly recommend this book to all book clubs. You will enjoy it!

This was a fun read!

I really enjoyed this book. It was a light read, but not dumbed down. I am looking forward to reading other books by this author. The characters were well thought out. Although I would have liked the mystery portion of the book to be more in depth and begin a little earlier in the book.

I recommend this to everyone! It has comedy, love and mystery. Who could ask for anything more?

Fun to read...without any real substance...

This was a light read and entertaining. No real substance, but if you want a book to pass the time, this is perfect! Overall, I enjoyed the book, but I did get a little frustrated with the main character, Weezie, and her obsession with "the other woman" and her ex-husband.

I enjoyed BeBe's character, and I wish I could meet Daniel, her personal chef...he could set my heart a sizzlin'!

Fabulously written!

I thoughroughly enjoyed reading this book. The writing was supurb and I didn't want to put the book down. I think the characters were colorful and three dimensional. The story line was believeable and thought provoking. I loved this book!
