Sarah's Key

This book has become one of my all-time favorites. I could not put it down as I was simply riveted to the pages. Beautifully written with a story that will touch the hearts of all who read it. A MUST read!

The Time Travler's Wife

I actually listened to this book while driving on a road trip. However, I do not recommend this because there were parts that I just burst into tears. This is such a beautiful love story and is a fantastic, original book. The characters are so deeply developed that you will be thinking of them long after reading the last page........

A great read for book clubs

Definitely a page turner that will lend itself to much discussion in any book club. Quite thought provoking to see how these characters relate to a traumatic life-altering event.

Unconvincing, Fun
The Shape Shifter

This book is quite likeable, but does not lend itself well to a Book Club discussion. When our book club met we discussed some generic questions and we aired some questions that we all had while we were reading. This book is simplistically written and is therefore an easy read. This is a mystery of an old Navajo legend of a "skinwalker".

Couldn't put it down!

This is a brilliant book club choice as it lends itself to much discussion of controversial characters and issues alike. Easy to read and a page turner at that!

Book Chatters reads The Shack

For me The Shack has become a MUST READ. I bought a copy of this book and am passing it around. Each time someone reads the book, they add their name to the list and one word to describe it. The Shack is very intense and must be read with an open mind. IF you can read it this way, you will definitely rethink a LOT of what you have grown up learning about God himself and why terrible things can happen to good people. Definitely on my list of books that all people should read.

Remarkably Written, Remarkable Creatures

This is a book that I would normally never pick up to read myself, but our Book Club, the Book Chatters, decided to read it. Within the first 5 pages I was hooked into a subject that I frankly could care a less about, fossils...not so much my interest. However, this book is so well written that I was drawn into the storyline and felt as though I were right alongside the women as they searched for fossils on the beach. The women played such an important role in science and history yet weren\\\'t even allowed into meetings discussing what was uncovered. \\\"We\\\'ve come a long way baby\\\", is a quote from one of our Book Chatters members. I found this book to be inspiring as a woman to see just how far we have come. Although this is a fiction work, there are some people in the book with realistic roots. Strong women, weak women, men who are cads, a love story, a spinster, a death, a marriage, hard times and good times can all be found in this book. As a whole, we all enjoyed the book and would recommend this book to friends as well as other book clubs. I look forward to reading other books by Chevalier as her writing is intriguing and flows well. Anyone with the gift to take an uninteresting topic (to me personally) and make it fascinating is an incredible writer in my opinion.

better than I thought

This book was better than I thought it would be. I thought it was only going to be about flowers, but I was so wrong. The story that goes along with it is sad, but oh so good. Another of my \\\\\\\"everybody should read this book\\\\\\\" --Love does conquer all.

not so funny

Although I LOVE Tina Fey, the book I was not crazy about. I think my favorite chapter was about her father. Other than that I really didn't see the point of this book being written and actually printed. Of course it is funny in parts, but really not worth the read. I will stick to watching her on t.v.

Gloomy Olive

Even though Olive is an unlikeable character, this book opens lots of doors for discussion for a book group. Each chapter we see a different character who knows Olive in a different light. I thought the book was pretty good and I did really like it. The character development is fantastic for Olive and her husband. Your group will definitely have people who love it and those who could leave it.

Fantastic, fun read

Brave is a great read that is fun and enjoyable!! Although there are sad and depressing parts in this book, the overall impression is that everything works out the way that it is supposed to. An adventure awaits when you open up these book pages and lots to discuss in your book group--have fun!

get your tissues out

This one will make you cry, if you have a heart and are a Mom, for sure. Our group mostly loved it. There are so many topics that lead to great discussions in this book. Hannah is very good at representing both sides of the coin and does again in this story. You can decide where you stand in the novel when you read the decisions that have to be made. A great story that is well written.

quick and good

Quick reads that are well written are a bonus when we are busy. This is a fantastic book that keeps you turning the pages late into the night. Our book club, the Book Chatters, enjoyed this mystery. It is definitely full of twists and turns and just when you think you have it figured out, you don't. Don't read the end in this one--you will ruin it:)

Proof of Heaven

I enjoyed this book because of the way that Dr. Alexander is able to use his neuro-science and actually relate it to a near death experience. For him to acknowledge that this happened to him is HUGE! He is able to describe events that happened to him in words that make it relatable. I thought he seemed to go off on several tangents in the beginning of the book, but of course, it is all neatly tied together in the end and all makes sense. There is lots to discuss in this one for a book group and would also be good for a church group wanting to read something a little different.
