There were mixed reviews at our meeting. Most did not like "Mermaid" as much as "Bees". A couple of us did and even enjoyed it more because of the ease in which we could identify with Jesse. I enjoyed the "build up" as the book neared the end. Sue Kidd always intrigues with her nontraditional take on the catholic religion. I loved the island setting and how she blends it with her characters spirituality.
