My Reviews
This wasn't a book I would normally pick up so I was glad the book club chose this to force me out of my comfort zone. It turned out to be a very good book that was well written and has a wealth of detail that really brought the story to life. I'm glad I read it.
I have not read this author’s previous book, so I did not have any preconceived notions and read this like I would any book. I found it very hard going and I'm a fast and voracious reader. Weeks later and I still haven’t been able to finish this book.
This book gave a glimpse into the past during a difficult time in our history. It explored how the war affected the people within this small island community.
Mercedes Lackey is one of my personal all time favorite authors. This is the first book in this series of three. In her previous series, Ms. Lackey uses the first book to introduce all the main characters. The second book is to show character development and introduce the main struggle for the third and final book.
She uses a colorful array of characters and each book has an emotional impact for those who enjoy her novels.
This was a cute and fun read that entertained. My only disappointment was the ending which I felt was rushed. I will definitely read other books from this author.
I have never read anything by John Grisham so this was a first for me. It was a little hard for me to get into because it's not my favorite type of novel. But once I got involved with the story it was really good. The issues that are handled are very real and this book gives you a hard look at the problems of the homeless and the difficulties that are faced on a daily basis.
