My Reviews

Dramatic, Graphic, Unconvincing
even with all the recent controversy, it's a good read

I was partway through the book (just past the horrific visit to the dentist ... who gets root canals without painkiller - yikes!)when my husband asked whether I had heard all the controversy about the author's embellishment of certain facts. Every time I open it now, I wonder whether the stuff I am reading is real or not; somehow everything I read before is real in my mind and the rest is now questionable. I'll still finish reading it ... I just have to know how he makes it through the last few weeks.

Consider the Lily by Elizabeth Buchan

A great love story without all the sappiness

I don't know what exactly about this book drew me in, it just did. I loved all the references to the garden and the bittersweet story.

I have not read either of Buchan's other books, but had given Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman to my sister some time ago. I rememberd the title when it was referenced on the cover of this book and decided to try it. I plan to read the others as soon as I get an opportunity.
