Revolutionary Road

Our bookclub had a great discussion about this book. We usually do discussion questions I found online, and we found we spent more time just talking about it, instead of referring to the questions. That's usually a good thing, and it makes for a much more fun discussion.

Loving Frank

Many of us in the bookclub were already fans of Frank Lloyd Wright. This book broadened our perspectives on him as a person, and as an artist. We toured one of the homes he designed that is in St.Louis, MO. It would be worth it for your group to drive several miles to tour a home of his , as you read the book. We toured the home in the morning, and then had lunch, then discussed the book. It was a great time. The home was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would highly suggest you read this book, and if I was you, do no more research or read any more history of Wright until after you finish this book, or you may hit a spoiler!!! Also T. C. Boyle lives in a Frank Lloyd Wright house, and he has written a new book about Wright called THE WOMEN. I can't wait to read it now!

Really??

Some of our bookclub members thought this was a "drippy" poor excuse of a book. Others that disagreed, disagreed in the most "aggressive" ways. Interesting reaction..... considering how poor this book truly was. Most of us felt it was not that great.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

If you've never seen the movie, don't watch it yet! Read the book first.... I highly suggest listening to the new audiobook of it, unabridged, and done by Sissy Spacek. I listened and read along in the book. Very enjoyable. Then watched the movie. I've seen the movie numerous times, and read the book numerous times, and each time, it's like being a mockingbird virgin, like reading it for the very first time. It's fresh, it's alive, it's engrossing. It's a coming of age story that will tug at your heartstrings, and make you see the world around you in a different light.
Read it as a kid,and then read it high school, and then read it again as an adult. My original copy is in pieces, I just can't bring myself to throw it away.

This is a book you can't miss, and it's a great one for deep discussions in a bookclub! READ IT!

Wonderful!

This is a wonderful story to enjoy, year, after year! Truman's prose is amazing. Once you start to read him, you are hooked. Don't be afraid of IN COLD BLOOD, because of the subject matter. Very well written, and an amazing story. I find it very interesting that he and Harper Lee were childhood friends, and she was involved in his investigation into the book.

This book is not like that story at all. It's a heartfelt story of a young boy,and his relationship with a grandmother type figure, and making fruitcakes. Celeste Holms is wonderful on the Cd included with the book. Purchase it as part of your Christmas book library, make a hot cup of chocolate, snuggle under a warm blanket, stick in the Cd,and enjoy the story, and the beautiful illustrations in this book!
