My Reviews
Nothing happened in this book. The characters did not evolve at all. They were the same at the beginning as at the end. If you like to read how the rich live and to realize how out of touch they are to Main Street this one is for you.
Our group really enjoyed this book. We had a good discussion.
We all were amazed how reading letters told a wonderful story. To some it was like the joy of received a note from someone in the mail. We definitely all thought it was a good pick and recommend it highly.
Our club discussion of this book was quite good. Everyone seems to contribute and there were a lot of insights. It would be a book we would recommend.
It was certainly a downer and probably not a good selection for the Christmas season. It does inspire a good discussion. Would we be so obedient? But also how the people in the unit seemed to blossom once they were there. We would recommend it as it was a thought provoking book to each of us.
As a group, we overall gave this book a good rating. Our discussion centered mostly on the father/son relationship. Also we talked about how first generation of immigrants wanted to keep their culture and language. Several memtion that they learned alot about what was happening in this country during WWII. And we also ask the question, Could the U.S. government do the same thing today if they wanted to?
We definitely liked this book and all are looking forward to the next one by Mr. Larsson.
The characters of Mr. Larsson's books are amazing. I'm intrigue of how Lisbeth Salander came into being with him. Oh, how I wish he was still alive. What questions is readers have for him!!
