My Reviews
Very good reading.
I enjoyed the book very much. It makes you stop and think about the older generation and how they only age in body. In their minds they are still young people wondering where did the time go?
I liked the book, except that I wanted to know what happened to the 2 children who were murdered at the beginning of the book. I realize this is not the subject of the story, but I think it has a lot to do with the mindset of the narrator. It kept me reading to find out what happened, then at the end, you still didn't know what happened to those 2 children.
This book kept me wanting to read until I finished it. It was very gripping in that I did not want to put it down. Could not wait to find out what happened to Nell and why she ended up on the boat dock alone. It was a sad beginning for a little girl of 4 but wound up with a happy ending.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book, however, the more books I read about the Nazi invasion, I am inclined to believe that Adolf Hitler was a devil. He was not only mean to the Jews of Germany and Poland, but he was mean to his own people. He did nothing short of letting his own people starve to death during his reign of terror.
