My Reviews
Yes, this book can be a bit dark or gloomy. Once the story really got rolling - I could not put it down. I usually finish my book club books the day of our meetings - I was done this book a full week in advance.
This book is a real page turner with lots of twists. I didn't expect the ending.
This of course is my opinion but I did not care for this book. I find it hard to believe that God would appear to a man who lost his daughter when there is so much going on in the world. I didn't like how it was written and I didn't find it believeable.
Our book club read this as our October book - we are all from New England and we liked that the book took place in Salem. This was an easy book to read, loved that it went back and forth from now to back to the Salem witch trials without being confusing.
Someone in our book club suggested this book as the book did get good reviews. I want to know what they were smoking when they reviewed the book. I am an avid reader - I will read anything - happy, sad, dark, gloomy. There wasn't ONE character that I connected with. And it seemed like everyone in the book had some MAJOR issues that never did seem to get resolved. I just did not care for this book. AT ALL.
Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. Our book club of 8 people all agreed that it was a really good book. Very well written. Sad at times but a story beautifully told by the author.
I really didn't think I would like this book. The author was so talented with her writing that you couldn't help but feel bad for the bad guy in this book. Our book club loved it and we had a great discussion.
