My Reviews
This book left me with the feeling of happiness of after death and a nonfear of the unknown.
Again when I read any stories that take place back during any of the wars - it's amazing how people were able to survive and bond.
We don't realize how blessed we are until reading what others have indured.
I listened to this book instead of reading it - but I have to say I extremly enjoyed it. I had so many different emotions during this story, I was proud, shocked, and the things that happened were sure an eye opener for me... I grew up during the 60's but living in the Northeast - I was never exposed to this kind of behavior - I feel disgusted that these particular Southern whites felt they were so much more superior. There were many parts in the book that brought tears to my eyes.
I really enjoyed the book - the book has to spark my interest from the beginning and if not it's hard for me to continue reading unless I have others that persuade me to hang in there.
This book caught my interest at the beginning and I enjoyed the storyline - there were times that it repeated itself but I still got caught up into the tragic Russian story. Its hard to believe how many countries were really effected by the war and it's something we don't think about most of the time! I would highly recommend to other Book Clubs to read.
It was a little slow at the beginning for me - but then I got hooked - the best part was there were a lot of true facts in the book. And in my opinion a little treat at the end of how the writer was inspired to write this book - we will be discussing this book for our Book Club in Sept.
I loved this book - I used the Audio copy instead of reading and the women that read was wonderful - I couldn't wait for my evening to come to an end so I could curl up and listen to this story - it was very relaxing for me! I have to admit - I thought I missed something at the end - but I get it now after reading more reviews - I will be waiting in line for the next book!
Though the book was a little slow for me - I loved the Major's and Ms Ali's sense of humor - my favorite in the book was Grace and you will just have to read it to find out why!
As some of the others commented - the book left me wanting more - I think I know what happened at the end but not sure and can't wait to hear what my fellow book readers have to say about this book - it really was one of those books that I couldn't wait to get back to and finish!
We're reading this book for Book Club but we're also reading "Valley of the Dolls" and we decided to read both in order to compare to what we thought was racy back in the 70's compared to todays - what a difference for sure. As I said before the book was not written well for sure - but you get swept up into not so much the kinky sex as to why he feels the way he does with his sex life -well that's how I saw it. I will read the 2nd and 3rd book to find out how it all turns out! I will secrectly be pulling for Christian to come to an end with his unhealthy -wild - sex issues. I just want Ana to find her Normal Prince at the end!
I couldn't put the book down - and yes, at the beginning you thought you knew what happened and who to blame but it had some great sick twist to the story. But overall I have to say I loved the book!
I gave this book a 4 out of 5 - we also picked this book for this month Book Club but haven't discussed it yet. I found it exciting to read couldn't get back to it fast enough to see what happens next and it also made me laugh and scream at times !
I won this book from this site - and want to thank Book Movement and Author Katrina Kittle - what a great read-we are discussing this book at our next Book Club night! Can\\\'t wait to hear how the other ladies felt about this book - I extremely enjoyed the story line and the many lessons that were suggested - highly recommend!
I loved the way the book was written and enjoyed viewing everyone\'s insight on the matter.
Julian was wrong in many ways of how he treated people but after reading this side of the story it changes some things or at least tries to make you understand why he felt the way he did.
We will be discussing this book in Feb for our Book club read - I'm sure we will have a great discussion- this book kept me coming back to - and loved the humor the author uses in the story line. Would highly recommend.
We haven't discussed yet at our book club but will be soon, this book will keep you thinking about it even after you finish. There were times I didn't think I could hear more of what was going on but then of coarse you have to. Loved it.
Just finished this book and will be reviewing with our Book club at the end of the month. Really enjoyed the fashion that it was written and kept me thinking about it and couldn't wait to get back to it to read. I would recommend for sure!
I loved this book - was it predictable - yes, but all in a positive way - enjoyed it - the writer has a great sense of humor -
Just finished this book - I love this Author's way of writing this will be my second book I've read by her - and thrilled that there are many more to read.
I would recommend to read for a book club - there could be a lot of discussions stirred for this book.
Enjoyed the story very much - have recommended to my Friends to read - it would make a great story for a Book Club -
