My Sister's Keeper

This story is told from everyone in the story's viewpoint. It really makes you think about each person's situation and their feelings about it and leaves to wonder what you would do in that situation. You have to sympathize with all of them. Read, even if you see the movie, I haven't seen it yet, but I hear the ending is not the same!

This book offers a glimpse into a unique family dynamic which can be disturbing. Most people would have a hard time imagining such a life. It was a good book for discussion about parenting styles and responsibilities.

The Last Song

you just can't go wrong with Nicholas Sparks. His books are beautifully written, with the twists that life so often presents on the exception rather than the rule side of life.

Hard to Stick to it, but very worthwhile

This story takes you into a sad life of a boy in a time when such things were not understood or tolerated very well. There is also a good deal of history in the book which is interesting aside from the story itself.

Inspired a very good discussion

This book received very extreme opinions in our bookclub. Some hated it, some loved (and have read it more than once) and others finished it, but were just warm about. Regardless of how any one person felt, it generated some of the best discusion our group has ever had in a meeting. We had different interpretations of the ending of the book.

The book was eloquently written. I personally did not care for the story itself and I really didn't like the ending, however, it was an experience to read. A great book for a club discussion on the complexities of society and the inner selves of the characters in the story.

This book had a great deal of interesting information about the Civil War told in a wonderful story of a young man who comes of age during these troubling times. It was an interesting twist on the subject with information not normally thought of when thinking about the Civil War.

A Handful of Dust

This book was written in the 30's in England, so it's a period book as well as being a different culture. It was fun to read with the use of language as it differs between the states and England. It was interesting view of the morality of the times with regards to marriage and divorce.

So amazing since this is based on a true story. One just can't imagine a life that endures all she did. And we think we have it bad!

When The Stars Fall to Earth

It's an extremely informative book about the genocide happening still in Africa. It's is disturbing to know that women are still sexually mutilated as children and are considered of no real value, even though they basically do everything within their communities. The cruelty of man against man is hearbreaking, as is the ability for those on the outside to look the other way. Well worth reading.

A Dark Dividing

The story pulls you in a little at a time until you\\\'re fully engaged, then engrossed. The similarities between the two stories 80 years separated are interesting and there are many surprises along the way.

A difficult subject to read about, but one that definitely needs to be written. It is sad to think that these things can happen right in our own neighborhoods.

A decent story that calls out realities of this generation and the uncertainties and lack of direction sometimes experienced. Also deals with getting out of your comfort zone, or staying in it because it\\\'s easier.

this book takes you on a journey

It feels like it should have been 100 years earlier. A beautifully written story of life in Africa in the early to mid 1900s and the struggle for human rights and racial equality.

A fun, interesting read

This book has an array of interesting characters that was so interesting to watch evolve. Mixed with some little known history about women pilots in WWII, it was a fun and worthwhile book to read.

A tough read because of the subject matter. A child is emotionally and physically abused by the mother which is ignored by the father. A sad story all around.

What Alice Forgot

Interesting perspective on taking a look at your life from another point 10 years earlier in your life. You can't help but wonder how you would feel in that situation. Enjoyed the humor added to the revelations.

Delightful story

A young girl loses her grandma and goes on an adventure to deliver messages to people left behind. She learns things about her grandma she didn't know and has very conflicted feelings. Grandma was quite the character and the girl has quite an imagination, making this book a fun read.
