My Reviews
A warm insightful story.
Firefly Lane was a fabulous story about loyalty and friendship. Easy to read, kept my attention and heartwarming.
This was a good love story. Very difficult to follow in the beginning, but then I couldn't put it down.
Best Friends forever is a fast read and humorous despite serious content. Kept my attention. It's a good story about two old friends who went their separate ways after a high school incident and how when finally reunited, they realize the bond of friendship was not broken after all.
A gripping page turner. I couldn't put this book down. I never saw the ending coming!
This story of a young German woman's survival in during WWII was gripping. The effect of her actions on both her future and her daughter's future is insightful. What would we sacrifice to save those we love? Food for thought.
I enjoyed the historical facts and picture of Jewish life in France in the 11th century. This story of Rashi's family was a bit slow at first but then I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read Books II and III!
An easy read about friendship and female relationships.
A book of short stories offering insight into relationships, growing older and coping. Once I got through the first 3-4 chapters, it was easier to read and understand the concept.
A spellbinding read! I couldn't put this book down. Graphic details regarding the round up of Jewish families in Paris in 1942 tugged at my heart. We must never forget!
Had to force myself to finish this book. It may fair better as a movie.
An insightful story into racial differences in Mississippi. I laughed, I gasped, and at times I was embarrassed about our country's history. I'm glad I grew up in the North East during the 60's. I loved the characters. A well written book!
It was good to read the second in a sequel of Rashi's Daughter's. I did not enjoy this book as much as I liked Rashi's Daughters 1 - Joheved.
When confronted with his own impending death, Randy Rausch did not curl up into a ball and hide....instead he lived his final days to the fullest. An inspiring story and heartfelt guide for his three children who will grow up without their dad.
Irene was a teenager studying Nursing in Poland when the Nazi's and the Russian's both invaded poland during WW II. Separated from her family, this is her story of survival. It is a true story and Irene's testimonial of the horror's of that war.
A fun sequal to Something Borrowed. Now we get to hear the story from Darcy's point of view. She was the one who lost her fiance to her best friend in Something Borrowed. Not great literature but a fun, quick read, entertaining book.
An entertaining book. Chick Lit and light and nice for a change of pace.
A fun story about a serious subject. We had great discussions about what we would like to accomplish before we leave this earth. An easy read.
A compelling page turner!
A different perspective of Germany during WWII. Makes one think about the innocent German lives affected by Hitler's regime. A beautifully written book, which tugged at my emotions.
A fun true story of a psychiatrist who took a year long road trip with her husband in a bus. Humorous and well written.
Interesting story about an adoptive mother who thinks her son resembles a missing child's picture and what happens when she can't ignore her curiosity. A quick read and page turner.
Our book club could not get into this book at all. When we got in touch which each other to plan our meet, it turned out no one had finished the book. The character's were hard to relate to and unconvincing.
Easy to read inspiring novel about the difficult life of a Washington housewife who is unable to bond with her two daughters. What the sisters learn about their mother's past, helps to heal old wounds.
A well told story from two points of view. An easy read which will lead to much discussion.
It took me some time to get into this book. The beginning was a bit difficult with so many different characters and not much action....but then, Wow! Once the story started coming together, I couldn't put the book down. I am glad I stayed with it. It's amazing that this is a translation. Lots of intrigue and suspense. I've already started reading part 2, The Girl who Played with Fire.
Wow! What a story. This is a page turner. Although the subject matter is disturbing, this story, told from the view point of a five year old is a heart tugging tale of motherly love. Once I started, I couldn't put it down.
I am probably amongst the few who could not even finish this book. It took over 100 pages to get through the birth of the twins. The story was not bad. However it is way too long.
I read this book in just a few days. I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the story line, the writing style and the characters. It definitely is a good book for discussion groups.
A beautifully written story of love and loss.
I couldn't finish this book. I tried to force myself to continue because of all the fantastic reviews I read. It was long, drawn out and at least 260 pages in, I still could not see the point of the story.
I read What Alice Forgot and really enjoyed it. So, I was excited to start this book. Sorry to say I found it boring. The characters were not great and it took me 4 months to finish, because I kept putting it down. The best part of the book was the Epilogue.
A quick read that tore at the heart strings.
I finished this book a week ago and I still keep thinking about it. This is an epic novel filled with love, loss, survival. It will leave you thinking. I loved The Winter Garden, another historical fiction written by Kristin Hannah.. This one is even better. The characters and their struggles are heart tugging.
