Enjoying a book is not a criteria for a good book discussion but everyone enjoyed reading this book. It provided a great discussion for our group which is multi-generational. Members recalled their own experiences from this time period. Great characters to explore, nice tie in with faith, which is a focus for our group.
Great conversation about the constancy of mathematics. Had a former math teacher there who gave more background on the some of the theories and mathematical principals discussed. Sweet tender story.
This book is a thoughtful look at life in post WWII England. The main character, Mildred is one of those "excellent women" who serve their church and others. Her wry observations are full of humor and the book is an easy read. Very interesting look at British society and life following the war (food shortages, buildings still in rubble from bombings) . Probably one of the best book discussions we have ever had. Highly recommended.
Great discussion for our Faith in Literature group. Lots of different opinions but a rewarding discussion.
Audio book is excellent and very engaging. This was a great book to discuss with our Faith in Literature group.
What if you could ask a question about Christianity directly to C. S. Lewis? And, then get an aswer?
Great discussion. 100% approval of the group.
100% consensus that this was a great pick for our group. Much to discuss and everyone though the story was engaging and kept you reading.
We were able to make some faith observations about this work. Lots of interesting things to discuss. Book lovers delight.
We had one of the best discussions we have ever had today. There is a so much to think about and discuss in this novel. We really enjoyed this read!
Macdonald's descriptions of the English countryside are so amazing, it will make you want to chase a hawk across the landscape. Great discussion about grief, loss, recovery and raptor birds.
This turned out to be a great pick for our group. Everyone knows the book but only a handful of our members had read the book as a child. The exquisite writing and uplifting message of friendship, nature and faith was a great fit.
Many members said the book started a bit slowly but once the journey was underway it was a great read. Very detailed in parts but an enthralling and little known story. We had an excellent discussion.
