My Reviews
The novel was multi-layered and as you read the layers peeled back to reveal a delightful, at times sad and uplifting, account of an era passed.
If this book doesn't make you want to pick up and move to France then your travel gene is dead! Highly entertaining, informative and just plain fun; read in concert with A Dog's Life, A Year in Provence told from the canine viewpoint is priceless.
A book within a book tale that takes place in Barcelona (which becomes a character in itself); Spanning years the quest to destroy all the books written by one author draws you in and never lets go. The deeper you get into the book the more the story of the fictional 'novel' begins to mirror to the novel until the two meet.
Rowling tied up the series beautifully in this seventh and final book. The only downside is that is does end. One is totally immersed in the world of HP. Rowling ends on an epic scale and does not shy from death, although at least one of the deaths seems unnecessary but then that is how it is in life. Funny, poignant, adventurous, impossible to put down. All the threads tie up in this 7th installment of the boy wizard. You may find yourself going back to previous installments to see where the seeds were planted.
