My Reviews

A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick

Dark, Dramatic, Interesting
The Reliable Wife

- Disgusting- Smut(a very old fashioned word that describes the many joyless sex scenes) -A total waste of paper - Plot lines from other books - predictable - A book to never buy or try to read.

The Lacuna: A Novel (P.S.) by Barbara Kingsolver

Book Club Recommended
Slow, Interesting, Informative
The Lacuna

A beautifully written book that was captivating. The best ever from Barbara Kingsolver.

Just Kids by Patti Smith

Interesting, Informative, Pointless
Just Kids

This book has moments of brilliant writing, but you have to wade through a lot of squalor and name dropping to find it. In the group, there was a generation divide -- younger than 50 loved it, those more mature thought it was tedious, vulgar, and boring. If you really love the hidden past of "celebrities" you might like this book. As for me, I would rather spend time with more positive people.

Romantic, Interesting, Insightful
unlikeable

Both characters are so unlikeable. Dex was a immature jerk and never grew up, and Emma was just dumb not to move on to a healthy relationship. Pointless. The book went in the trash. UGH!

Earthbound by Richard Matheson

Poorly Written, Unconvincing, Boring
Earthbound

Poorly written book, boring, just plain dumb. Did not finish, and several in group did finish it -- and are sorry they wasted their time.
