My Reviews
An easy summer read. I was disappointed though that the author lifted the injury sequence from "In an Instance"
The book held my interest, it treated spousal abuse in an informative way and the emotions Ivy portrayed explained why so many victims have trouble confronting their situation. The side plot of the TV show was fun and also insiteful.
Seldom have I read a book which represents the feelings of getting older in modern society with such clarity. The characters are multidimensional and unforgettable. I could only read one story at a time beause of the emotions the stories. I was truly sorry to see the narritive end/
It is hard not to put oneself in the lifeboat with the victims of the shipwreck The story brings up many questions about what one would do to survive and how it would affect the rest of your life. This is a quick read and leads itself wonderfully to a book club discussion.
A heartwarming story with insightful undertones,
The first part of the book is slow but interesting, great historical details. As the book moves to the actual journey it is a page turner. The people are so well described the reader feels much empathy for their situation and admiration for their courage. I had tears in my eyes when I finished it - first time for a book on history.
