My Reviews
Just as good the second time around.
This is a story set in the South, near Savannah, Georgia. It is set amongst the mansions of the south. CeeCee is a young girl who mother is mentally ill. Her Mother cannot care for herself let alone a young girl, her father has "checked out" of the family and stays mostly at work.
This story is written from CeeCee's point of view, and her heartfelt story of living with a person with mental illness. After a horrific accident, she lives with her "semi" eccentric Aunt and meets her "little bit" zany friends.
It is a heartwarming story....that will have tears streaming down your cheeks as you hear this little girl tell her side of the story.
I love her book the Tea Rose but this one was alittle slow at times, and could have been written in less pages. Hope the next one will be alittle more dramatic and entertaining.
The Reliable Wife is a dark and dramatic book. It is a mail order bride nightmare...interesting..alittle over the top yet very entertaining.
I recommend this to anyone!
This is a great story that is inspired by Queen Mary and her sister Elizabeth. This book is a "sort" of sequel to The Other Boylen Girl, which was excellent. This has spots where it drones on, and the ending is alittle flat, but about 50 pages before the ending it was great, I think Phillipa Gregory wanted to tied up the ends, and finished it, but there were some spots where it could have used alittle bit more.
I like the description of the setting of this book. The characters were "colorful" with personal pasts that connected them into the body of the story. I would recommend this to any book club.
This is a sweet book that will give you the warm fuzziers!
I don't know that we had too much conversation about this book, it quickly went to The Great Gatsby era and book.
I listened to this book on audible...what a fantastic story. Fiction based on fact. Monk\\\' s description of everything makes you feel like you are there. Excellent story told I two voices of the characters. Excellent!
This was a quirky fun and insightful book. I don\'t know how many people will get the insightful part of it, because of the characters, but I caught the writers underlining message.
This story was wonderful, Harold Frye gets a note from a friend at she is dying and he sets out to write her a letter and goes to mail it but keeps walking. He walks 600 miles to keep his friend alive. As he is walking he reaches a meditative and spiritual state where he reflects on his whole life. Good and bad, and sad too. The book has many questions as you are reading the story as to who are these characters. Great story...excellent ending with many faucets of life changing decisions made by the characters. Good book!
Great story made up from fact very interesting, made me research history more.
