A read if you have an urge to just drop things and try something new!

The book was overall liked by most of us in the book club. We have a wide age range of members and it was fun to get the different comments from different ages. This book is about a flower child in a midlife crisis. The main negative comment by a few of us was that there were some undertones of possible infidelity which did not sit well with some.

Loving "The Help"

We met last night to discuss "The Help". I found the book to be one that I found myself having trouble putting down! The characters were wonderful and you ended up loving them and hating them. The book was an eye opener to the life of those that worked in the homes of whites and the whites that worked to fight back against prejudice. It was wonderfully inspiring and I would recommend this to other book clubs.

No Yoga... not for you!

We just finished "Enlightenment for Idiots". The book was well written, but was clearly geared towards the yoga world. AS a group that does not practice yoga, the book was difficult to understand and relate to. The terminology almost could have used a glossary at the end of the book. However, the story was good and we did have some good discussions about India and how people live there.

Letters Not Easy, but worth it

We just finished "The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society". Most of us found the book to be a little difficult to read in the letter style that it is written. However, we all loved the story and would recommend it to others.

Couldn't put it down!

This is by far my favorite Nicholas Sparks book since "The Notebook." I loved all of the characters and each story he developed. You know a book is good when you are fighting through the tears to see the words on the pages to keep reading. I highly recommend this book!

Slow to start

We just finished "South of Broad". I found the book very difficult to get into, but once I did, I couldn't put it down! The book deals with some very difficult issues and is quite graphic, but it does make you think. It also highlights the city of Charleston well... I want to take a trip there now. If you can stomach it, you will find this book an interesting read.

Great stories within a story...

We just finished "Prayers for Sale" and I really enjoyed it. The book was a quick read and hard to put down. The main character Hennie was a great storyteller and the book revolved around the stories that she told. The book was very informative about the gold rush time and how people lived then. I would recommend this!

Can't put it down!!

I absolutely loved this book. I ended up reading it in 2 days! It was a wonderful story with lots of mystery, romance and sisterly quarrals.

Interesting premise

This book seemed interesting at first. However, after what was a good perspective on the current state of god and goodness in our lives, the story itself lacked conviction. I also found the ending to be way over the top.

Much better then expected!!

I absolutely loved this book! I went into it thinking I would like it, but didn't realize how much I would love it. The story is wonderful and the way it is written is very easy to understand and read. I really felt connected to the characters and grew to love and hate some! I had no previous knowledge of the round up in Paris in 1942 and this was extremely informative.

Quick Read but good story

I found that this was a good story and made me think. The book was a quick read and I feel that there were a few loose ends that were never wrapped up. Other than that, it was an interesting read.

Not Quick But Worth It

This book was a little difficult to read. The language, although beautiful, was very hard to understand. I felt that I had to reread many parts to make sure that I understood. This being said, the investment was completely worth it. It was a story about finding your true love. It gave us a lot of discussion points and was an interesting choice for our bookclub.

Slow first half

I found the it very difficult to get into this book in the begining. It actually took me until about helfway through for it to pick up. However, once it did, I enjoyed the book very much. It was a great story about life challenges in Ethiopia. If you don't like medical jargon, you may want to skip this one!

Nice Christmas Story

If your club is looking for a nice holiday story this is a good one. It was a very quick read but it did give us some things to discuss.

A compelling Read!

I had very little knowledge of the character of Unbroken and found by the end of the book that I had fallen in love with him, his family and his friends. The title of the book is perfect and describes this man's experiences wonderfully. I found the book to be very informative and inspiring. It gave us 3 hours of things to discuss at book club!!! I highly recommend this book to other book clubs. There are a few parts of the book that are difficult to read because of the content but are very important to the story so I tell people to fight through them so that you can really live the experience. Laura H is a very talented author and I look forward to any next book she may write.
