My Reviews
Very real story about the relationships among a group of true friends. Excellent character development and easy to read and relate to.
This book is so true to life, I felt I knew these women and the difficulties they had to endure to support themselves and their families. I hope we have all learned a lesson by this look into real peoples lives and how they cope with prejudice and pre-conceived ideas that have been passed down through generations. Can you believe this is a part of our recent history, and still is in force in some homes. What a shame we cannot all learn that we need each other to survive.
This is the perfect book. I have read and re-read it many times since High School over 45 years ago. I never get tired of the adventure, and the story of how 3 lonely people find each other through love and kindness and understanding. It has everything you could ask for in a book, romance, mystery, excitement, and adventure. I will be reading it again soon.
I liked this book and will definitely read the next two in the trilogy. I loved the "inside" information on all the creatures, and the romantic combination of witch and vampire. However some parts were a little too slow, and some of the events were a little confusing in that they were not described in enough detail. I am looking forward to the second book, maybe it will fill in some of the missing pieces.
One of the greatest books I have ever read. So much to learn from this book, can we afford not to read it. Such wonderful insight into the characters, Scout is truly an inspiration to all young women, and her father sets a great example for people everywhere. All the characters are alive and thought provoking. Read it again, get your kids to read it, and talk about it with them. Who knows, it might just make a difference in someone's life.
Great read, romantic, funny, adventurous, and heartfelt emotions involving all the characters. I would recommend this to my friends.
This was the first Tim Downs book that I had the pleasure of reading. The Bugman is an interesting and very funny character. Getting him to the church on time for his wedding to the lovely, mysterious, dog trainor, who has many issues of her own, is much more complicated than picking a cake, and buying a few flowers. I will be looking for the others in the series, as well as other books by Tim Downs. I loved the details about Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania in general. Knowing these hometown places that were mentioned just added to the fun of reading this book.
This book should have been called 50 shades of crimson, for all the blushing and flushing Ms Steele does throughout the entire book. Maybe she should have seen a doctor. I did not hate the book, and I just finished the second book in the trilogy, and I will read the third. That said, I do not know what the fuss is all about, the writing is appalling, so many cliches, and so many repetative descriptions. The whole story could have been told in 200-250 pages max. If erotica is what you are looking for, read some of the Bodice Busters, at least they also had a logical story. I am so disappointed that this book is being lauded as a how to or a boost to peoples sex lives. Who likes to be beaten, and ordered about like a dog? And what man can change his habits so profoundly?
And while I am ranting, where were the editors, and why doesn't any one associated with this book own a thesaurus?
I hope no one I like is in the movie, because Hollywood is going to make this into high class porn.
Read at your own risk, but please don't say you loved it just because it is the "trendy" thing to do. And don't resent the hours spent on this juvenile work. Maybe with the money she makes the author can take a few writing courses, or invest in a good thesaurus.
