My Reviews
This is an eye-opening book if you are unfamiliar with the Bible or Bible prophecy but are curious to know what the Bible says about end times - when the world as we know it will end! The author reviews historic and current world events and relates them to prophetic scriptures. He suggests that these are possible signs that some of the prophecies are being fulfilled in our lifetime. This is an excellent source for understanding Biblical prophecy - educational and thought provoking!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It reminded me that we are so in danger of losing, if we haven't already, the art of letter writing. I admit that I was a little confused at first coming to know the characters writing the letters but soon I was caught up in their stories and could not put the book down. The description of the people and their lives while the island was occupied by the Germans was insightful and heart-wrenching. I found Juliet to be delightful, adventurous, courageous and romantic. Wonderfully interesting novel.
My objective in reading this book was to find a good book for our ladies book club at our church. It was recommended by someone in the group so I read it. It was hard to get through the first few chapters because it was a very slow read to get into the storyline. Then there were several parts in the book that I could not recommend for a church book club - her experience in her school as a little girl, her experience with her abusive husband (that she said she enjoyed....), the experience in luring a client's adulterous husband in a night with her to prove he was in fact adulterous and suspense of what happened to the little boy captured by the witch doctor. I didn't find this book to be redeeming for a church book club.
