My Reviews
I give a blanket thumbs up to all of Ms Houston's books. Some I would rate higher than others, just as I am sure she has her own favorites. I just finished Dead Hot Shot which I enjoyed even more than Dead Madonna. I hope this series goes on for years and years. I would love to see this developed into a long-running TV series.
What a great read! The pioneering spirit of the MacIvey family matches those of other early settlers throughout our nation, but Patrick Smith's telling of their story is brilliant. What a page turner. I was totally caught up in the emotion of their stuggle to survive adversity.
Although I had difficulty sticking with the story in the beginning, by the time I was a quarter of the way through the book, I could not put it down. A compelling read!
I loved getting acquainted with all 27 (was it?) characters and enjoyed the epistolary composition of the book. I didn't want the book to end and am sorry Ms Shaffer didn't live longer to write many more books.
Interesting book giving insight to the personal side of Ted Kennedy and the Kennedy family in general. It gave me an appreciation for his contributions to society through his influence and lifetime of work in government.
I loved the author's use of metaphor, simile, and personification. His descriptions are superb.
Although I do love well written short stories, Grisham's Ford County didn't quite fulfill my expectations. I much prefer his novels. Not a bad read. Actually, OK for something light, and I did enjoy his character development.
Trying to keep track of characters and their connection to one another was somewhat challenging.
