My Reviews
Definitely would recommend this read for book club discussions. Our book club met for 2 and 1/2 hours with plenty to talk about. Good easy read just enough history but nothing that bogged down the story. Full of scandal and wrong decisions that kept me wanting more.
The book was good but it seemed to drag at first and pick up really fast at the end not getting in to detail about points you had been waiting for. It took forever for the inevitable to happen and once it did the author just skidded right past the details. I would recommend reading The Diary of Anne frank first and then this book---it's been so long since i read the diary it may have made group discussion more involved making references to the actual diary.
Started reading it and remembered why i could not finish it in High School and ended up putting it down halfway through the book and not picking it back up...no interest. Showing the movie, although a loose version of the book, help sparked up discussion.
Very long book lots of details at the beginning not enough detail towards the end. Great detail on the history of NY. Little disappointed about the ending but overall good read!
Would recommend highly to anyone! great book!
