My Reviews
Although parts of the book were very difficult to read (graphic violence), it was an intriguing story and left me wanting to know more about Lizbeth Salander. Very well written.
Engrossing story of a girl in the foster care system and how it affects her life, the Language of Flowers is moving, heartbreaking at times, but ends on a note of hope. Thoroughly enjoyed it and our club had a great discussion about it.
Engrossing book with very well developed characters. You will feel as if you know them all personally. Gives you an immigrant's perspective, among other informative aspects. Enjoyed it very much.
Well developed characters and Pip's great expectations make for a good story. Life's expectations and misconceptions color his perception of reality. Good read.
I have mixed feelings about this book, as parts of it captured my attention and kept me reading, were very informative and interesting, but other parts were very slow - overly descriptive of the scenery, and a little too convenient events. The characters were not developed enough to where I really cared about them either. I loved learning about Welsh history, but don\\\\\\\'t recommend this book overall. It was disappointing.
This book had very interesting characters and I wanted to know what happened next. I understood the author’s desire to use the railroad in a metaphorical context; however, I found the use of a literal railroad in the story to detract from the story rather than enhance it. Several other occurrences seemed a little unbelievable, too, in my opinion. The book did refresh and reiterate what I’ve learned about slavery in America.
