My Reviews

Middlesex: A Novel by Jeffrey Eugenides

Interesting, Dramatic, Epic
A wonderful and surprisingly engulfing book about a family's secrets, trials and tribulations and what can happen when you tempt fate.

When this book was voted for at our book club meeting, I was not excited about the daunting task (I thought) of reading MIDDLESEX. It was so long (which usually does not intimidate me) and being a Pulitzer Prize winning novel, I was afraid it would be dry or boring. Well, fortunatley to my surprise it was FANTASTIC!! I whipped right through it and devoured every word, description and character I came across. I took this book everywhere with me in case I had a moment to read a few lines.
Most of my book club's members enjoyed it as much as I did. Some let the length of the book prevent them from reading it. I hope they take the time in the future to read it and I hope you do too.

Blink - Text Book or Thought Provoker?

Blink - Th Power of Thinking Without Thinking

To be honest, I was the only member at the meeting who did not read the book. (And I'm the creator of this book club!) I was intimidated by the book's format but I found that I could easily participate in the discussion with those who had read it. All in all I think that the members who read Blink liked it. Our meeting consisted of book discussion more than just chatting which tends to happen at most meetings. So I think the book was thought provoking and a positive read.
