My Reviews
good book, I like how the main character drifted back and forth from past to present. The story made me sad and anxious while I was reading, which caused me to need to continue then the mood or setting would change and it would become sweet. Quick read, quite enjoyable.
Gives some insight into childhood conflict and bullying. Some of the relationships in the book are unnecessary and the ending is pitiful given the reality this story is based loosely upon.
However, it is well written and interesting. Very sad and thought provoking to say the least.
This was a great book and though fiction, provided some insight as to how life is for the women of Afghanistan. Women are victimized so easily and readily by the men.
It also gave some knowledge as to how the Taliban and Muhajideen began. Excellent read.
good book to just get your mind off of the day to day. Easy read, very light, not complicated, characters simplistic. Just eases the stress of the day. Nice for the Holidays to help you unwind.
It was a really great book and well written. The subject matter was provocative and also morally questionable. I felt the anxiety and pain of both characters choices, which made me enjoy the book more because it was gripping. It was very sad and pitiful at the same time. Good discussion book.
This book had many aspects to it. In some ways it was a bit of a mystery due to the loss of a child, the time period in between Josh Thurlows departure and life outside of Killakeet and then his return as a CG boat captain. It was romantic though a bit patchy and rough. It had excitement and suspense because of all the sea battles and anxiety caused by Ensign Thurlow's boat being unarmed for much of the book. It was interesting and appealing to all sexes.
I liked the book with the combo of short stories. It's fun to read the "classics" sometimes and Poe is good if you like mystery and drama.
I liked reading the book again as an adult. It was fun revisiting Agatha Christie and I think I might try a few more over the summer.
This was a quick read and the end surprised me a little. It was sweet and a bit sad. Nice for the beach.
I didn't realize that Ernest Hemingway was in any "real" love affair with anyone aside from Martha Gellhorn. The book really played emphasis on this fascination EH had with marrying Hadley Richardson because he believed she would be perfect for his writing. He seemed to be a complete narcissist and unknowingly used women to promote his own well being. Perhaps he was incapable.
Well, historical fiction...maybe it's just a story.
I enjoyed the mystery of the situation. Made you think. Could happen to anyone and that's what made it riveting.
