My Reviews
A River Runs Though It is about fly fishing in Montana, but beneath the surface run currents of philosophic and religious notions as well as a complex study of family relationships and responsibilities. It tells how two sons of a Presbyterian minister maintain their relationship through a common love of fly-fishing, despite increasing personal differences.
It is a beautifully written book.
See the movie directed and narrated by Robert Redford and stars Brad Pitt. The movie does a good job capturing Maclean's elegant reserve.
This book is haunting. The book deals with the ugly past of Mexico in the 1800s. I found it really interesting that the book is based on a real person who was related to the author. The book made me want to learn more about who she was and what happened to her in her later life (the book ends when she's 19). Also, desert lovers, and the like, will enjoy Urrea's passion for the land. I would definitely recommend this book.
Nowhere in any description did it tell you what the book was really about.
Yes, there were surprises but I wish I had known what was coming.
This book had an overwhelming Christian element as well as an anti abortion theme.
A book about ghosts, angles and God was not expected. This is Christian fiction. I stopped reading at page 268. I tore the book up and put it in the trash.
