Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

It was hard to get into this book. Several members of the book club debated not finishing it. The book did pick up about halfway through it, but then it seemed like the book was in a rush to finish.

This book showed how ones attitude and perspective can change their life. You don't have to let life control you, you have control over your life. Just go out there and have fun! It helps to have good friends, too.

Our book club liked the book, but feel it was a little confusing so it made it hard to get through. Then the end just stopped abruptly. There is going to be a sequel to the book and many of our members are going to read the follow up book to see what happens with the characters. A lot of attention was paid to the backgrounds and locations of the scenes, but many of the characters were underdeveloped. Also the time line seems to be slightly off with the events happening in the book. EX- something happened on Thursday, then when talking about it on Monday the character says 'yesterday...'. This being said, a good portion of our book club liked the drawing in of current events and history that the book implied. We feel that if the characters were better developed (or expressed for the audience) and a little less attention paid to the streets and college scenery, the book would have flowed better and been easier to read. Overall it was a good book and we enjoyed reading a different genre.

Our book club loved this book. It shows that you can handle anything life throws at you if you have a great group of friends to give you support. This book was a relatively quick read and kept the readers wanting more. In fact, many of our group would like a follow up book so they can get more from the lives of the characters. The ladies of the book are believable and bring you into their worlds nicely. We were glad to have read it and would definitely recommend it to others to read as well.
