Fun, Unconvincing, Informative
Dead Madonna

The setting of the books was good. By a big lake with lots of fishing. A party cove. Yes, they have them. Lots of conversations but you could guess who was the murderer quite soon. The murders did not make sense. A fast read, but will not long remember it.

A Land Remembered

An outstanding Florida historical novel. A stoy of three generations of the MacIvey family, from dirt poor Crackers to wealthy real estate tycoons. a gripping tale that holds your interest from start to finish. The characters come to life in this well researched book. A winner.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

The format was a little hard to follow, as there were so many characters in the book. Learned about Guernsey and its part in World War II. The people became real as the book went along, and they were real heroes during a trying time in their lives. I grew to love them all.

Honolulu

Although it is rather lengthy it goes into great detail about Honolulu in the 20's especially. Gives great insight into Korean life and family life. Many characters and great for book discussions.

Still Alice

It was a sad story told from Alice's viewpoint. She was brilliant and had trouble remembering where she was, what she was to do at age 50. Her husband was not helpful and her children were a mixture of helpfulness. Very well researched and a must read for everyone.

Ford County: Stories by John Grisham

Ford County:Stories

I am a John Grisham fan. His stories were a bit grim and they are more popular with men I think. The main characters were not nice people and so not easy to feel sympathy for them. Some stories were such that you wondered what happened next. I did like the book though many in my group did not.

Book put together in a form that is hard to follow. Too many characters to follow. All of them losers. sometimes well written but mostly confusing. When you finish it, you feel that who cares about these people? Not the reader. Not well received at our book club.

The 19th Wife

There were 2 story lines, one in the past and one current. The did not mesh very well and the curent one could have been eliminated. Well written about the start of Mormanism. Brigham Young not shown as the great person many believe. Characters quite believable and interesting.
