My Reviews
The ending was unpredictable and I loved that about the book. The story kept me in suspense thinking I had it figured out in every chapter, but the next chapter would throw the curve ball. I also enjoyed the fairy tale stories within the chapters. Very entertaining!
The book describes a future America where people have destroyed a nation by giving "The Capitol" complete control. No one dares to rebell against it's control due to the consequence of total distruction to their individual districts. To maintain that control, The Capitol decides to create a game (The Hunger Games) where children between the ages of 12-18 fight to their deaths as a reminder of its powers and what it can do to the people. 24 contestants (2 per district) are called once a year which is called Reaping Day. The winner gets a lifetime of glory, a house, along with a year's worth of food and supplies for it's starving district. Could this be future America? It's up to you to decide? This was a well written novel and I see it as being a good movie.
It was a good laugh and a quick read.
This book was so difficult to follow and left you with many unanswered questions. Especially the question...was the witch really a witch?! Was the witch really entitled to the shoes? So many mixed emotions and characters that gave no value to the story in my opinion. This was not an easy read by all means and seemed repetative. The book was not good but I will highly recommend the musical though. That was worth watching.
