My Reviews
This is a book I never would have chosen to read on my own, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. As someone who is fast approaching the age where Alice's early onset Alzheimers started to affect her, the story really touched me and made me think how dramatically things can change.
Although funny at times, this book is too stereotypical about women from the South. The message - you've only got one life, so live it big and live it fun - is good in principle, but unrealistic in real life.
This author was recommended to me by a German friend of mine who is a huge fan, so I was delighted to see this particular book has been translated into English.
If your Book Club enjoyed the Steig Larsson Dragon Tattoo series of books, they will enjoy The Keeper of Lost Causes. Set in Denmark, the story is about a detective who has undergone a life changing injury in the course of duty and his work on a five year old cold case that suddenly becomes warm as he investigates. The main character is flawed and yet completely likeable, and his mysterious new assistant adds another dimension of interest.
I hope to see more Adler-Olsen books translated - looking forward to reading more about Carl Morck.
Our bookclub was looking for light summer reading for the selection this month, and were drawn to the reviews we read on Amazon. Every member disliked this book! Confusing, boring, unlikable characters..definitely do not recommend!
