My Reviews
usual Binchy format
light reading
The concept for forming the club was interesting, but I just didn't care for it much.It did generate a lively discussion at my book club. Several of the members just really loved it. I don't care for group religious discussions.
Excellent info on a part of WWII I was completely unaware of. Interesting characters. Format different and fun.
I found this much darker than her previous novels--almost "Stephen King" dark and graphic. However, it was an interesting read and a psychological thriller. I do prefer her previous works better.
Very sad but most informative about a part of history I was unaware of.
The info on history of Barbery pirates was interesting but I found the plot not credible and repetitious---reminded me of some of the later Tom Clancey books. Men would probably enjoy it more than I did.
Good characters and good grasp of history portrayed.
Quick summer read. Funny in parts. Not a new plot.
I always enjoy books of legal info and courtroom drama.
Interesting picture of self absorbed people. I disagree with the author's philosophy, but it was an interesting, though slow read.
Interesting, especially about the ants and their life cycle. It brought conservation and responsible use of resources to the forefront.
Very interesting story of the medical profession and how far it has come. The love story was touching too.
Touching story and very interesting to have the dog's view of events.
It seemed a bit "youngish" for my tastes. But it did show choices people make that prove to be disastrous. It was a;n okay read but certainly not among my favorites.
I was impressed by the young author. It was interesting to get a true black perspective on the hurricane struggles and also an insight in to the struggles of areas outlying New Orleans.
The lifestyle with dog fighting was dark and unfamiliar. But overall I think it was a believeable scenario.
Interesting and thought provoking study on how one choice can influence many lives.
I didn't care for this at all---in fact I didn't finish it.
I don't care for the paranormal genre. This was dark and gloomy and foul. I read it all and am sorry I wasted my time.
Touching and sad, but also romantic.
It was written in a very easy to read style and although I found Jobs a rather nasty person, it showed his brilliance. I also enjoyed reading the history of the iMac since that is my family's favorite computer.
An interesting look at the problem for deployed service members and their families. I imagine it is more difficult than pictured in this book but it was informative nevertheless.
I don't enjoy reading books about ghosts or "Parallel universes"---- just not my thing.
Shows the difficult challenging life chosen on this island.
Interesting with many details I was not aware of. She seemed to be a rather conflicted woman---sometimes dependent and needy, other times brave and adventurous. Overall I thought it must have been a very difficult marriage, even without the tragedy of their son.
Predictable beach summer read. Pleasant enough.
