My Reviews
Although the action takes place over just a few days, this beautifully written novella (just over 100 pages) offers thought-provoking insights into the lives and relationships of a family in 1930's Montana. You might enjoy viewing the movie, directed by Robert Redford, for an interesting interpretation.
This highly entertaining novel, based on the true-life 19th century story of Theresa Urrea (a very unsaintly saint), leaves the reader thirsting for more, despite its length. The writing is lyrical, the characters engaging, the plot cleverly crafted. It has provoked my interest in the history of Mexico, as well as a desire to read other works by the same author.
