I liked this book but it took me a while to get into it. However, I am glad that I stuck it through and read the whole book because it really taught a good leason and showed me (I'm only 26) a whole new perspective on how life used to be for those of other races in the United States. I am glad that things have changed and this book made me realize how difficult it was for those that were involved with the change.
I really enjoyed this book and the next books in the collection. There was mystery and romance and intrigue; however, it's seems like nothing ever works out for the main character the way you want it too. If you are a hopeless romantic and are looking for a definite happy ending then this series is not for you. On the other hand, it is a well written book and keeps your interest.
