My Reviews
I became so involved in the lives of the characters that I couldn't wait to pick the book up to read each night before bed. Very well written and opened my eyes to a part of US history we aren't very proud of.
This book was so much fun to read. It reminded me of days in high school when there was the cool and not so cool kids. The longing to be part of cool group thinking they had everything going for them. It is a great journey through the trials of friendship.
Very informative and eye opening. I just could not put this book down it held my interest until the very end. You will learn a lot about Alzheimer's disease, maybe more than you want to know.
Moloka'i was so eye opening to me. I had no idea that there was a leper colony on the Hawiian island of Moloka'i. To have such ugly tragety take place in such a beautiful place was sad but delightful. Brennert described the beauty of the island along with the ugliness of the disease and you felt yourself transported there. I love books where I learn something about our history.
There were so many life lessons to learn from Enzo. Telling this story from a dogs perspective makes all of the difference. If we could all learn to talk less and listen more we would be surprised at what we could learn in life.
I read this book at our library book club and really didn't like it. Ishmael went through a horrible experience and I commend him for turing his life around. I just can't read stories like this, I want something that I feel good about not depressed while I am reading it.
I really did enjoyed this book. It revealed to me events that took place in the church that I never knew aobut. There is so much involved with Vatican and the Catholic Church. The adventure was good but somewhat predictable at times.
This book was ok. If you want to learn more about Burma and thier culture you may enjoy it more than we did. It did give some insight into the culture but was a little slow otherwise.
Detective Aimee Leduc is based in Paris and is about to leave to look for a long lost brother when an attempted murder takes place. I enjoyed the descriptions of Paris. There isn't a lot to this book, it won't keep you up at night but if you are looking for a fun, quick read for the beach this is a good pick.
Overall the club felt it was to hard to get through. This is the first time over half our members didn't even finish the book. There were two members that loved the book because they could relate to Liz.
The three main characters in the story Anya, Meredeth, and Nina all have a hard time getting through life. Anya, the mother. has virtually destroyed her family due to the dark secret she has kept for her childrens entire lives. The book is slow in the beginning but once the true fairy tale begins you can't put the book down.
I really can't believe that so many people are going crazy over this book. It's so poorly written that I can't even believe it was published and sold with such juvenile writing mistakes. The repetitive lines about biting the lower lip, tearing the foil packet, blushing etc. Did anyone edit it? Honestly, I have read a lot of historical romance that is much better than this book to get your engine running. Again, I just don't get it.
