My Reviews
Although I found this book not easy to read, It hits on the struggles of class/nationality differences in another country. A struggle of keeping ones own customs while adapting to a new way of life and their customs. A story of acceptance and growth. I found it moving at moments yet slow going in others.
A compelling read. A young girls flees her abusive father and tries to find the answers to her mother's past. Which leads her to a family of women, beekeepers. This is a truly beautiful story of their acceptance of each other and the young girls acceptance of herself and her mother's past. A wonderful book.
I laughed thoughout this book. It's an easy, funny read which most people can relate to. A man and wife, finally finding themselves alone for christmas, want to skip it and go on a cruise. They live in a closeknit community which favors christmas and all it's trimmings. This creates havoic on their plans and turns more complicated when their daughter decides at the last moment to actually come home for christmas and she is bringing someone with her.Last minute details, shopping, all bring comic situations to make you laugh.
