A "must read". Hirsi Ali's story is one of the most inspiring I have ever read. This woman overcame so many obstacles to become a solid, contributing leader and member of society, and her story is amazing. She is blatantly honest about her religion, background and upbringing, and I will never again assume things I had in the past. Definitely an eye opening book.
Easy read and a real page turner. Couldn't put it down. Wonderfully written. Easy to identify with the characters and sympathize with what they are feeling.
We discovered a completely "new" aspect of WWII, other than Hitler and the Holocaust. Had no idea this kind of treatment of our POWs was taking place in Japan. The book graphically demonstrates the perseverance of the human spirit and our will to survive.
Wonderful story from Hemley's point of view. Absolutely loved learning about her. Definitely fills in the blanks about Hemingway's past and his rough beginnings. Love to read a story like this that is so well written and humanizes the characters (even though they were real people) to the point that you can sympathize with their decisions.
Fast paced intriguing legal thriller with good courtroom action, full of fun and surprises. Enjoyed reading a book with local stories and flavor (Florida), and had the special privilege of hosting the author himself at our meeting!
