A really beautiful and thought provoking novel about one of the central issues of American culture, segregation. It makes you stop and think about the indignations and sacrifices people endured for freedom.

Worth a read for sure. The writing is lovely. The story, however, is difficult. Extremely sad, but I suppose so were the times in which the story takes place.
