lovely yet heartbreaking story.
Fascinating. I learned a lot about the era.
dog lovers will love this book.
Good choice for a ladies book club.
I loved this book. A very charming, intriguing and uplifting story. Narrated by a Japanese war-bride and her grown daughter, we read of the struggles both have lived through and the love they have for one another regardless of the often tricky relationship they share. I look forward to reading more from Margaret Dilloway in the future.
the family truly had the time of their lives while at sea. But it was also devastating! Great story!
We had 15 members join us the evening we talked about this book and boy oh boy did it kindle some interesting conversation. It may not have been the best book we've read to date, but I think it brought on the most conversation. Perhaps it's a little closwe to home for us. We're a group of weonen, primarily in our 30s, most of us are stay at home momes. We can relate!
My group really enjoyed this book. We were lucky that one of our members knows the author and she was kind enough to call us so we could ask questions. Fun evening, great book!
GREAT book for a book club. Lots of fun to read, cute stories. But what makes this book so great for a book club is that we each made a recipe or two from the book to bring and share, and talk about. Awesome time!
A group of linked short stories that didn't go anywhere. Interesting characters, but no story. Anther tried being too literary, but failed. All 10 ladies who attended it disliked it.
