My Reviews
Finally a book club pick that everyone enjoyed - great read that inspired much insightful talking about race relations and the civil rights movement. Winning character development is what makes this book so special - we grew to love and understand the people who lived in Jackson, Mississippi of all races.
Somewhat dark, but very well written with some unexpected turns. I enjoyed the story, became emotionally attached to the well developed characters thus caring about the book.
Our club read this book and we spent most of our time lost. Nobody got it - very confusing and quite frankly a waste of time. Very dreary and hard to follow.
This novel just spoke to me - I loved the romance, the interesting travels and places Hemingway and Hadley lived. The life of the bohemians in the 20's seemed fun and surprisingly much more like what the young artists lifes of today than I expected. I am sure our book club wants to read more Hemingway or perhaps his full biography, great read.
