This wouldn't be the first book I would recommend to others, but it wouldn't be the last. It was entertaining to read and well-written, however, I didn't feel like the book "went anywhere". It may be that it is just the nature of travel memoirs to read this way. There were a few moments that caused me to stop and reflect, but overall, I found it to be just OK.
