My Reviews

The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

Interesting, Informative, Insightful
One of the best books I've ever read....

Though not everyone in our book club agreed, this book, to me, was incredible. The way the author explored the relationships between mothers and daughters, sisters, and all of their relationships with the men in their life was fascinating to me. To read of an era so much different from our own was to transport me to another time! I mourned when this book was over.

controversial & sensational

This book definitely sparked discussion in our book club, which is what we were hoping for. This book and its premise is certainly controversial - most of wondered how this woman has become an "expert" on anything? Not for the meek of heart...

The Diviners by Rick Moody

Somewhat laborious but rewarding

I was the only person in my book club who enjoyed reading this book - which should be an indicator of something. If you enjoy books featuring many characters and detailed prose describing something that is seemingly insignificant, you'll enjoy this book. Others' complaints were that just when they felt a rapport with a character, the author switched to someone else and they had to wait too long to find out what happened. The author is clearly a brilliant and talented storyteller, but you have to first care about the story he is telling, and most in our book club did not.
