My Reviews
The book was narrated between the two main characters which gave two distinct point of views of what is happening. It was a good book with some twists along the way. The story really picked up in the last 2/3rds. of the book. This book really makes you think about why things are the way they are.
Our club wasn't thrilled about this book, but it did make for good conversation. We found some great discussion questions on-line and enjoyed talking about it. We wouldn't necessarily recommend this as a pick but it was short and easy to read.
I really enjoyed this book and hope my book club reads it someday. I am moving on to her second book "Half Broke Horses". It is the story of her grandmother and having read Jeannette Wall's story I think I will be able to appreciate her grandmohter's story a bit more.
This book was very interesting and different. There were some plot twists that I didn't see coming and it kept me up at night till I finished it. It was a quick read and very enjoyable.
This was very well written from the perspective of Alice. The author did a good job of keeping it factual and real. I would highly recommend it.
The majority of our book club did not care for this book. The plot itself was interesting, but was poorly written in my opinion. The author goes on and on about the same point and has terrible views about sex. I found myself skipping pages just to move on and get to the meat and potatoes of the book.
I read this on my own, not with my book club. I loved it! It would be such a good book to discuss in a book club. The first part of the book seems a little slow and I wasn't sure how it was going to be tied together, but when you reach part two, it's all intertwined. This book was beautifuly written and had the best ending of any book that I've ever read. I highly recommend it!
Our book club liked this book. It was a cute story that was very easy to read. It provoked a lot of discussion at our book club regarding faith and what we believe. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a break from "heavy" books.
Although this book was very predictable, it was easy to read and fun. It was a nice break from the deeper books our book club usualy reads. I'm not sure if I would suggest it as a book club pick though, it lacked deep substence that would promote long conversation. Read it on your own beetween other books.
I really enjoyed reading this book outside of my book club's pick. It was a bit of a tear jerker and I found myself reading for hours on end because I needed to know how it was going to end! I breezed through it in just a few days. Good Book!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when I started reading it, but I was pleasanly surprised by the way the story unfolded. Great book!
This book is sad and a bit hard to get through. It's a long book and most of it is a downer, but I'm not sorry I read it. The ending made it all worthwile.
This book grabs you right from the first page and doesn't let you go! I couldn't put it down and finished it in 3 days. It was a very entertaining mystery.
This book inspired so much conversation, would definately recommend to a book club. The way the story unfolds keeps you invested and sparks lots of emotion.
The book was okay. I enjoyed all of the stories and our club had a good conversation about it, but you have to be a spiritual person to really enjoy it, which I am not. I do however respect what Father Boyle has done to change so many lives.
This book was entertaining and sparked a lot of discussion at our book club from the author's questions.
This was a very easy read. It wasn't too deep or dramatic, maybe not very thought provoking for a book club buy I really enjoyed it. I couldn't put it down!
This book is short and very heart warming. It really makes you stop and think about how you're living your live. In the end you will find yourself a little more grateful for what you have.
It gave us lots to talk about!
Half way through this book, I realized that it was not going to go anywhere. I guess that was the point of it, but the 8 ladies in my book club unanimously disliked it.
This was a great book, I couldn't put it down.
Our club read this book and then met the author on her book tour. It was well liked by all in our book club. In my opinion, some of her others were a bit better, but this was a good one too.
I couldn\'t put it down. Our book club is going to have a lot to talk about!
