My Reviews

A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick

Dark, Dramatic, Interesting
Not sensual

This book is described as sensual but all the sex in it seems angry and not very romantic or sensual at all. The characters seem confused by their interest in sex. I thought that maybe in the end the two main characters would have a realization that sex with love is so much better but it never solidified in the book. The book is most definitely written by a man trying to talk about how a woman would feel and failing miserably at it.

Not depressing like I thought!

When this book was suggested I thought "I really don't want to read about poor, abused children with crazy parents!" But, I read the book and was hooked from the beginning. The book is not a depressing story of abuse but an interesting look into people who live on the fringe and like it that way. It also shows how a person can grow up a certain way but live their life differently than their parents and people can persevere.
