My Reviews
I generally liked the book and found it interesting while reading Sarah's story. Julia's story we found to be much less interesting. Overall we felt if it was all from Sarah's view it would've been a far better book. I also found it emotionally difficult to read because of the tragedy of the holocaust in general.
Hard to relate to the main character. After all those years you'd think she'd get a backbone. Waiting for a big reveal that never happened. It was ok.
Interesting book. I did learn a lot I didn't know about that time in history. But can be confusing with all the names and the wars.
Interesting to learn about the founding of this religion and its affects on its believers. Not really sure they needed a murder mystery though. Would've been just as interesting to learn about how it affects the kids in modern times and have Jordan become more involved in the kids on the "inside".
This book was depressing from start to finish. The language was too heavy and symbolic, almost like the author is trying too hard. Some interesting insights, though.
All the characters are likable and descriptions are amazing.
