My Reviews
Such a absolutely sweet book. If you are a dog lover, be sure to get the kleenex box ready. Many references to car racing, and I thought at first that would be a turn off, but the way the author infused it into the book not only makes sense and flows smoothly but you can view the racing dialogue with life comparison.
Great story about a family and life, just through a four-legged view point.
Though it was a bit slow at the start, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie definitely was an enjoyable book. The character of Flavia is a fun, and interesting girl that really is much older than her 11yrs.
This book was fun and light. I did like the change in her life perspective, but still staying true to her Prada self.
This book was very interesting. The reader learns a lot about Chinese culture and the adoption process. The story is personal to the author, and that is nice, however, our book club felt that the story was rushed a bit. But we all enjoyed it nonetheless.
This book was a good read. Kept you guessing on the "who did it" part. Enjoyed by everyone in our book club
The book was different than many books we recently read, so it was a nice breath of fresh air! I rated it as fun because one of the main characters was suck a ass that he was hilarious.
This book was interesting...many of us in the group were a bit turned-off by the title...meaning we thought it would be a boring book about the trail; however, the author is a very good writer and makes it quite interesting and in many times comical.
Though the review says "laugh out loud funny", I would not quite take it that far.
Mixed reviews here. I loved the prose of the book. Amazing writing. But I think this book is for more literature lovers versus just readers. I don't think it is a bad book and I did enjoy it, most of the group had a hard time with the language of the book.
This book was sort of a split in our group. Some had a hard time reading the book that is narrated by a five year old. It can be a little challenging, but I thought it was wonderfully written. A dark story, but you don't necessarily see that because it is through the eyes of the little boy, who see's his life as just fine. Recommend it!
Interesting read. Real insight to a part of the world we tend to ignore...
Everyone in the club enjoyed this book. It was well written and very easy and quick to read. It was however, a bit predictable. Just a nice book.
Everyone enjoyed the book and thought it was a quick and easy read. A few of us found it a bit predictable but it was still a enjoyable book.
We all really loved this book!! What a fabulous book that combined recipes with life stories. It wasn't just about the actual food, it was about how the food intertwines us in every day life. Fills us with memories, good, bad, just forever.
Highly recommend it!
