My Reviews
Kathryn Stockett did a tremendous job of developing the characters in The Help. I felt for some, was proud of some and was disgusted by others. It really made me think what people were expected to be like during this era of slavery and segregation. The book was a great one because it caused me to evaluate just who I am and how I would have been in a time and place as that of the The Help.
Didn't really like this book as it was a little too vulgar for me. Obsessive drinking, vulgar language and ideas, one-night stands mixed with what could have been a book full of interesting characters make up this book. At times I really wanted to like this book, but then just when I was about to forget what I already read, bam... she's dressing provocatively and stashing condoms in her purse getting ready for a one night stand with the guy she likes... even though she is still trying to work out her marriage.
