My Reviews
This a quick and easy read. Steamy sex scenes aside, I enjoyed the book. I thought the characters were interesting. I can DEFINITELY see the Twilight influence throughout the book. The only little hick up for me was the British terms peppered throughout the book coming from American characters living in the Pacific North west. Not a major flaw, still think its worth the read
I thought this book had some great life lessons. Cheryl Strayed's personal journey was inspiring. I really felt that the last 1/3 of the book was better than the first 2/3. I gained the most insight from the last 1/3 and had the most "aha" moments. I really appreciated her honesty and straightforward manner in which she told her story.
The book started off a little slow for me, then took a turn. Once it hit its stride, I couldn't put it down. The ending didn't give me the revenge I was hoping for, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless.
Anytime you are dealing with seriously ill children, it is going to be a diffiicult read. That being said I think the author did a good job of infusing humor and the joy of first love into a novel tackling a difficult topic.
Before reading this book, I didn't think I would get much out of it or truly enjoy it. However, the story was fantastic. The characters are rich and well thought out. There's a character for everyone to relate to in some form or fashion.
