My Reviews
Characters beautifully rendered. Unforgettable.
Boring self help experience.
Great use of Death as the Narrator. Such a sensitive and moving portrayal of decency in the face of horror, of the optimism of youth and the power of words.
One of our Book Club members comments sums it up:
as pitifully ignorant and uneducated as Henrietta's
family was, the scientists who dealt with them displayed an inexcusable ignorance about family and poverty and lack of education.
This book was hilariously funny- everyone enjoyed reading it. However, all agreed that it left no room for good discussion beyond recounting which stories made us laugh the hardest.
