A must for couples or anyone wanting to be in a relationship. What good is it to show your spouse/partner love the way you want to be showed love if that is not your spouse/partner's Love Language? To learn your own Langauge can be enlightening as well. Sometimes we just don't understand what we really need to feel loved, much less what our spouse/partner needs. Reading this book together is a very great idea.
3 Faiths call Abraham Father and like most siblings we all fight and squabble and try to be #1 with Father and to put our siblings down. This book should be read by all members of each faith that call Abraham Father. No one faith has exclusive rights to him and we need to accentuate where we believe the same and minimize the sibling rivalry.
Faulkner at his best!
This book proves the adage that Absolute Power corrupts Absolutely.
Vampires as funny? This Romantic Vampire Series is just that. I love the humor and the romance. You have to volunteer to join this vamp family, and most of their human spouses do.
What it was like for a woman of the times.
A great telling of scandal in Washington, DC. A definite read for those who lived during the times or for those who want to know more of politics at the time.
I love Patterson and this book is typical of his Alex Cross series.
As usual, Crichton takes a what if and makes his fictional tale take it to its horrific conclusion.
I really thought that I would hate this when our Book Club decided on it. I thought it would be pretty light weight as a read. Though it has light hearted moments, the women of this book club (where the title comes from), see each other through lives ups and downs. They live for their book club meetings, but support each other as well.
A true book about Temple Grandin - an autistic Veterenarian. Her autism is an aid to her understanding of animals and how they relate to their environments. A very informative read.
These books are not for the squeamish or faint of heart. Besides being a registered Vampire Hunter, Anita raises Zombie's from the Grave for a living. The cops call her in when Paranormal crimes are suspected. Oh, and a Vampire wants to date her, despite that she kills Vamps. Twists and turns. Warning - the 1st novel is the least violent and has the least amount of odd sexual practices.
Grisham is at his best when he writes about courtroom dramas and all that leads up to the verdict. In our industrialist society he hits a nerve with this story.
I find this series to be graphic in its depictions of both sex and violence. But if that doesn't bother you as a reader, this is a great Vamp series.
Read a few pages or read it straight through. If you knit or crochet you may see yourself in her amusing writing. If you have trouble finishing projects, or finding room for your stash of left over yarn, you will love this fast and funny read.
This can be very difficult to read in places. But it portrays the life of a Geisha which despite their beauty lived very difficult lives.
Sylvia Plath's story as only she could tell it. For those who need an insight into depression or mental illness, this is a must read. If you as reader already have 1st hand experience of either, her words will resonate within you.
One of my Book Club's reads. We all loved this book. So much of it is authentic of the times. It is romantic, sad, and a page turner all at the sdame time.
This is a very gritty book. The 1st 100 pgs or so are very confusing and hard to get into, but then I could not put it down. The Swedish names were difficult and that 1st 100 pgs I was having trouble telling who was who and are they even important to the story. The moderator for our Book Club decided not to finish the book or to even suggest reading it for our club because she could not get past the inhumane acts done to the main character. So it is definitely not for the faint of heart!
This book is narrated by a 5 yr old boy who was born and raised in the room where his mom is held captive. This is the boy's entire universe. When his mom tries to convince him that there is a world outside of the room, he can't undersdtand any of it. The psychology of their relationship and how each of them copes is very insightful.
Takes place in the South where most families have blacks as household help. One young woman sets out to write a story of the black women who have raised so many of the children in her area, including herself. She learns a lot and enrages many.
